Hire a car at the airport of Béziers

Béziers and the Occitanie region are home to a wealth of historic monuments waiting to be explored. Although the city is relatively well served by public transport, getting around independently in your rental car will make your trip more enjoyable. Choose a vehicle at the best price and drive along the Canal du Midi to the Fonserane locks, then head to the Jardin des Poètes for a family stroll.

Outside the peak season, traffic in Béziers is generally light. During the holiday season, the influx of tourists and holidaymakers crossing France from east to west on their way to Spain makes the roads busier. Some of the streets in the city centre are pedestrianised. To reach them, leave your vehicle in one of the on-street parking spaces or in one of the car parks around the centre.

The A9 motorway takes you to Montpellier in the east, or to Narbonne, Perpignan and then Spain in the west. The A75 motorway, accessible via the N9, heads towards Clermont-Ferrand. The D64 and D612 departmental roads allow you to bypass the city centre. Following the D612 will take you to Bouzigues, on the shores of the Étang de Thau, where you can enjoy delicious oysters.

To collect your rental car at Béziers Cap d’Agde, you will need a valid driving licence (often held for at least one year), as well as an identity card or passport. A credit card in the driver's name is also required for the security deposit. Some local agencies may ask for a credit card, especially if you choose a premium vehicle.

Most rental desks at Béziers Cap d’Agde adjust their opening hours to match flight schedules. Although the airport is relatively small, some agencies provide key-drop boxes for late-night or early-morning returns, which are particularly convenient if you are leaving early or arriving in the evening.

Yes, a shuttle connects the airport with Béziers city centre and the SNCF railway station in around twenty minutes. That said, its timetable is often coordinated with the main flights. If you want to reach more popular tourist destinations such as Marseillan, Pézenas or the beaches of Cap d’Agde, hiring a car will give you much greater freedom and convenience, especially if you are travelling with family or luggage.

Absolutely. Many offers include unlimited mileage, which is ideal if you are planning to explore the wide-open spaces of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Nature Park, the vineyards around Saint-Chinian or the small coastal roads. Be sure to check for this option when booking.

Yes, several agencies at Béziers Cap d’Agde offer one-way rentals. This means you can hire a car for a journey to Montpellier, Toulouse, Carcassonne or even farther afield, and return it at another airport or city-centre location. A one-way fee may apply, but this remains a very convenient option for a carefree road trip.

Although most rental vehicles have manual transmissions, it is perfectly possible to hire a car with an automatic transmission at the airport. As these models are less widely available, especially during the peak season, it is best to book one in advance.

A small city car is sufficient if you are staying in Béziers or limiting your trip to the beaches. However, if you want to explore the vineyards, venture inland towards the Canal du Midi or discover the hilltop villages of the surrounding countryside, an SUV or a more comfortable vehicle is preferable.

With a rental car, you can explore Cap d’Agde, stroll through Pézenas in Molière’s footsteps, follow the Canal du Midi, or discover the Héric Gorges and the markets of the Minervois. The region is full of treasures that can be reached in less than an hour by car.
