The two airlines Aircalin and Air Austral are establishing an interline partnership to offer passengers a simplified itinerary between Saint-Denis (Réunion) and Nouméa (New Caledonia), with a stopover in Bangkok. Thanks to this arrangement, travellers can book a single ticket, with their baggage checked through to their final destination. The Saint-Denis–Nouméa flight departs every Wednesday evening from Réunion for Bangkok, followed by an Aircalin flight to Nouméa the next day. For the return flight, there are 2 departures per week from Nouméa, on Wednesday and Saturday, with a stopover in Bangkok and then a connection on Air Austral to Réunion. Hugues Marchessaux, chairman of Air Austral’s executive board, sees this partnership as “a genuine act of solidarity between overseas airlines” to strengthen mobility between the territories. For his part, Georges Selefen, CEO of Aircalin, believes that this new agreement opens up new tourism, cultural and economic opportunities between Réunion, New Caledonia and beyond. This partnership between Air Austral and Aircalin promotes inter-island connectivity and facilitates air connections between the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific. Passengers benefit from a smoother journey, with a single ticket and through-checked baggage, while the 2 airlines strengthen their cooperation to support economic and tourism exchanges between their territories.
