The airline Azerbaijan Airlines is continuing to optimise its onboard services through a new strategic agreement signed with Viasat. The airline will install the Amara connectivity solution on 20 new aircraft, including Airbus A320 family aircraft and Boeing 787-9s, which will gradually join its fleet. This will be the first deployment on AZAL aircraft of high-speed Wi-Fi capable of supporting streaming on board. At the same time, passengers will have access to a wireless entertainment system directly through their personal devices, without the need for a built-in screen. This development marks a significant change in the airline’s customer experience as it seeks to align its technology offering with international standards.
To further strengthen its competitiveness, Azerbaijan Airlines plans to make Wi-Fi access free for its Business Class customers and elite members of its loyalty programme. This initiative is part of its efforts to modernise the entire onboard product and attract a more connected customer base. By integrating the Amara solution, AZAL is equipping itself with flexible, scalable connectivity that meets passengers’ expectations as well as the operational needs of an expanding fleet.
