IndiGo now uses the Airbus A321XLR on its Mumbai–Amsterdam route. The change took effect on October 25, with the winter schedule. The airline is replacing the Boeing 787-9s previously operated on its behalf by Norse Atlantic.
This route covers nearly 6,900 kilometers. Flight 6E21 takes approximately 9h40 outbound and 8h51 on the return, according to Flightradar24. Block time can reach eleven hours.
The A321XLR carries 195 passengers in this configuration. The Boeing 787-9 previously used carried 338 passengers. Capacity therefore falls by around 42%.
For travelers, this route remains a nonstop connection between Mumbai and Amsterdam. It also shows how far a single-aisle aircraft can go on a long-haul route. Airbus gives this model a maximum range of 4,700 nautical miles, or approximately 8,700 kilometers.
