The return of the Air Madagascar name will mark a turning point for Madagascar’s national airline. The transition is scheduled for 31 October 2026. It forms part of a recovery and network rebuilding phase.
The first tangible new development concerns Moroni in the Comoros. The Antananarivo–Moroni route resumed in late July via Mahajanga. It is operated twice a week using ATR 72-500 aircraft. This air connection now saves passengers from indirect journeys via East African hubs.
The airline also reopened its sales office in Analakely, Antananarivo, on 11 September. Another office had already reopened in Mahajanga in July.
Madagascar Airlines says it is preparing to resume other routes to Réunion, Marseille, Bangkok and China. At this stage, no schedule or frequency has been announced.
