About the airline Middle East Airlines
The first routes served were to Syria, Egypt and Cyprus, followed by the Gulf, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. In 1963, Middle East Airlines merged with Air Liban, adding new destinations to its offering of cheap flights to Europe, West Africa and the Middle East. The airline managed to survive the civil war years by leasing its aircraft and flight crews to other international carriers. Middle East Airlines has one of the most modern fleets in the world, consisting of Airbus A330 and A320 aircraft in SkyTeam livery. MEA offers around thirty destinations on direct flights. Middle East Airlines also operates around twenty additional flights with connections, particularly to the United States and Australia. It serves Paris CDG, Brussels and Geneva.
