TAP Air Portugal (TP)

Starting in summer 2026, the airline Tap Air Portugal is introducing a cabin class between Economy and Business on its long-haul flights, operated on Airbus A330 and A321LR aircraft. It consists of 12 “single” seats arranged in rows of four, just behind Business Class. This class offers enhanced services at the airport: priority check-in counter, fast‑track access through security, priority boarding and priority baggage handling. On board, passengers enjoy greater comfort with more spacious seats, a premium main meal with a choice of hot dish, meal pre-selection 24 h before departure, as well as cabin amenities such as a comfort kit, an upgraded pillow and high-quality headphones. This launch marks a new milestone for TAP, which until now had offered only Economy Class, with an additional “EconomyXtra ” offering focused on more legroom but without any real distinction in services. With the introduction of its Premium Economy cabin, TAP Air Portugal is enhancing the comfort of its long-haul offering and aligning itself with the standards of major European airlines.

The airline TAP Air Portugal stood out at the 2025 World Travel Awards, winning the awards for “Europe’s Leading Airline to Africa” and “Europe’s Leading Airline to South America”. 

This double win highlights the Portuguese airline’s strong foothold in intercontinental air connections, particularly from its hubs in Lisbon and Porto. For Africa, TAP currently operates around 85 weekly flights from its two hubs to 14 destinations, including Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Senegal and Ghana. As for South America, the airline operates around 96 weekly flights to 13 Brazilian cities, in addition to serving Caracas in Venezuela, further strengthening its position as an “air bridge” between Europe and Brazil. This latest recognition adds to TAP’s already impressive list of awards, as the airline has received numerous accolades in these categories since the late 2000s. With this achievement, TAP Air Portugal confirms its strategy of expanding beyond Europe, while highlighting the modernisation of its fleet, the optimisation of its connections and the quality of its customer service. For travellers, this translates into an extensive network, more frequent services to Africa and South America, and a flight experience built around a European offering with a strong international focus.
