On 22 September 2025, Uzbekistan Airways signs a contract with Boeing for the purchase of 14 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, accompanied by an option for eight additional aircraft. This order, the largest in the airline's history, is in line with the strategy to modernise the long-haul fleet of Uzbekistan's national airline. The first aircraft are expected to be delivered starting in 2031. The president of Uzbekistan Airways, Shukhrat Khudaikulov, emphasises that this acquisition enables the company to strengthen its position as a major air hub in Central Asia, while offering more direct air connections to its passengers. The Boeing 787-9, recognised for its energy efficiency and increased capacity, allows the airline to expand its international network. This order is also accompanied by a cooperation protocol between Boeing and Uzbekistan's Ministry of Transport, aiming to explore new opportunities for the development of the country's aviation sector. With this significant order, Uzbekistan Airways positions itself to respond to the growing demand from international travellers. The modernisation of its long-haul aircraft is an essential pillar of its future development.
