Vueling (VY)

The airline has agreements with several groups, such as Repsol and Cespsa, and has integrated SAF into its operations since 2021. In addition, the airline has committed to using 10% SAF by 2030.

Since 2023, 25% of the Vueling fleet has been made up of new generation aircraft. These include the new Airbus A320neo, which reduces CO2 emissions per passenger by 18% and noise pollution by 50%

Since 2023, the airline has been in partnership with Avikor, a service offered by Exolum, a Spanish company providing transportation and storage services for petroleum products. Avikor is integrated into Vueling's online ticketing system. The system allows passengers to contribute 2% to the SAF programme when booking their ticket, thereby reducing part of the emissions. The airline will match this contribution, bringing the total to 4%.

Vueling implements improved route planning, optimises taxiing time, and determines the most suitable flight speed a​nd altitude.

Measures have been put in place to reduce weight inside aircraft. €20 million has been invested to optimise weight, which corresponds to 45 kg of CO2 per flight. The digitisation of documents has eliminated 75 kg of paper per flight, reducing emissions by 16 kg of CO2. The trolleys used in the fleet are now lighter, decreasing emissions by 3 kg of CO2 per flight. In terms of recycling, the airline uses recyclable cups and utensils and offers a €0.50 discount on hot beverages to passengers using their own cup. Finally, the airline has an IATA-certified IEnvA sustainability management system, conforming to the ISO 14001 environmental management standard, demonstrating Vueling's commitment to sustainable development. This standard independently evaluates the engagement of aviation stakeholders such as airlines to continuously improve their environmental and sustainability performance.
