Starting in March 2026, Brussels Airport (Zaventem) will welcome China’s national airline, Air China, which is launching 2 direct routes to mainland China: one to the capital, Beijing and the second to the southwestern metropolis of Chengdu. The Brussels–Beijing flight will operate from 24 March, with five weekly services at launch, increasing to a daily service from 29 March for the summer season. Chengdu will be accessible to passengers from 26 March, with 3 Brussels–Chengdu flights per week. For Brussels Airport, the arrival of Air China helps strengthen its position as a European hub for travel to Asia. These new air connections complement an already extensive network, which is beginning to include destinations such as Hong Kong, Bangkok and Chongqing. For passengers, this means more options for reaching China, as well as easier access from Europe to major economic and cultural hubs. The Chengdu air connection is particularly significant, as it establishes, for the first time, a direct air corridor between Brussels and Sichuan Province, renowned for its cuisine and giant pandas, as well as being a technology and industrial hub. Beijing, meanwhile, remains a leading political, diplomatic and cultural centre, making it a key destination for both tourism and business.
