Air China is a Chinese airline. Part of its fleet is reserved for Chinese political figures. It has a fleet of 400 aircraft, mainly Airbus and Boeing aircraft. Since 2007, the airline has been a member of Star Alliance and has a frequent flyer programme called "Phoenix Miles." Air China, which operates flights in France from Paris Charles De Gaulle, offers numerous promotions across its entire network. The airline is also known for the qualifications of its pilots, some of whom operate one of the most challenging air connections in the world: the Chengdu–Lhasa air connection. Air China offers more than 400 destinations, including over 60 international destinations and 55 in China. It also benefits from the Star Alliance network and serves 1 300 routes worldwide through its many partnerships.

Investments for the use of sustainable aviation fuels

Some fuels reduce CO2 emissions by 80% over their life cycle compared with fossil fuels. They are called Sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). They can be blended with kerosene in varying quantities. Their large-scale deployment requires significant investment from all stakeholders involved.

In 2023, Air China successfully operated an Airbus A350 using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) with a 10% blend.

Investment in fleet renewal

Driven by the growing environmental imperative, aircraft coming off production lines are very often more efficient than earlier versions. The same applies to cars. Fleet renewal therefore helps, in this respect, to contain the growth of greenhouse gas emissions.

Air China has placed a significant order for 100 COMAC C919 aircraft, valued at $11 billion. Deliveries will span between 2024 and 2031. Air China has also signed an agreement to become the launch customer of the COMAC C929, a long-haul aircraft aimed at competing with Airbus A350 and Boeing 777.

R&D for a new generation of eco-efficient aircraft

All these investments are for research and development of cutting-edge technologies for tomorrow's aircraft, whether hydrogen-powered, electric or innovatively designed, for the benefit of the environment. This includes funding programmes and partnerships with laboratories and industry partners.
