Low-cost airline Transavia France has announced the expansion of its services departing from Montpellier-Méditerranée for the 2026 summer season. The programme includes 2 new air connections to Malaga (Spain) and Tangier (Morocco), designed to meet the growing demand from leisure travellers for sunny and cultural destinations. These new routes add to the services already operated by Transavia from Montpellier, which form an important part of its development strategy in the regional market in the south of France. The airline is banking on direct, non-stop flights to make destinations around the Mediterranean easier to reach, particularly during the summer season. Malaga, on the Andalusian coast, is popular for its beaches, warm climate and its historic landmarks, all accessible within a few hours' flight from Montpellier. Tangier, located at the entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar, appeals with its cultural ties between Europe and Africa, its lively souks and its sea views. Transavia will operate these flights with Airbus A320 aircraft, standard aircraft in its fleet designed for medium-haul routes in Europe and North Africa. The expansion of the summer offering is part of a broader growth trend in air traffic from Montpellier, where the low-cost carrier is making a significant contribution to increasing capacity and expanding the choice of destinations available to travellers in the region.
Transavia equips its entire Airbus fleet with IRIS to optimise its flights

Transavia is rolling out IRIS across all its Airbus aircraft by the end of October. This satellite technology helps crews communicate more quickly with air traffic control. It can also enable more direct flight paths and reduce fuel consumption.
