Volotea, which has been operating in Montpellier for more than 13 years, will significantly expand its operations from autumn 2026 by basing an Airbus A320 at the airport. This new base, the airline’s tenth in France and twentieth in Europe, will create approximately 30 direct jobs and more than 170 indirect jobs while increasing capacity at the regional airport. As part of this expansion, the airline plans to open 4 new air connections departing from Montpellier to popular destinations such as Bordeaux, Madrid, Tenerife South and Lanzarote, complementing its existing services to French and Spanish cities. With the opening of this base and the expansion of its network, Volotea is strengthening its presence at Montpellier-Méditerranée Airport and offering travellers in Occitania more direct connections to France, Spain and leisure destinations.
