EasyJet is marking an important milestone in modernising its fleet. The airline is receiving its 100th Airbus from the A320neo family in Hamburg. It now operates 359 aircraft, all built by Airbus. A320neos account for more than a quarter of the fleet. These aircraft consume less fuel and reduce CO₂ emissions per seat. They also produce less noise in flight than previous generations of aircraft.
EasyJet is also improving the onboard experience. It is gradually rolling out the Airspace cabin on its new aircraft and on part of its existing fleet. Travellers benefit from new, more spacious overhead baggage compartments. They also enjoy redesigned lighting and a more modern cabin. The aircraft also feature more accessible equipment. On the technical side, the airline is introducing several improvements. It is reducing aerodynamic drag and reducing the weight of some equipment. The new aircraft also use up to 50% sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). The airline aims to gradually move toward full use by 2030. Finally, EasyJet also relies on digital tools to optimise maintenance and operations. This enables it to improve the punctuality and management of its flights.
